Case Study: Local Search Engine Optimization: A Hoboken Architect

Derk Garlick is a Hoboken architect just around the corner from our office. Prior to hiring Consorte Marketing, his website was nowhere to be seen on Google, Yahoo or Bing. In addition, the design did not complement his excellent architectural design work. Derk is a professional architect whose work sells itself, and he called upon us to get him leads.

With a modest budget, we were able to get him onto page 1 of Google for almost all of his locally targeted keywords within 6 weeks of project initiation. Local optimization clients tend to realize a much faster ROI than those seeking traditional SEO. It all goes back to the concept of niche marketing: one could compete with the entire world for the keyword, architect. Or, an architect or interior designer may vie for keywords related to his or her city of origin, and compete on a local level.

After Website Redesign and Local Optimization

Our project began with some basic keyword research to find opportunities for local traffic in the Hoboken, New Jersey area. Typically a full Keyword Discovery is needed for SEO. However, on the local level we were effective with only a small amount of research. To save further on budget, we opted for a very basic design for the website. Derk’s imagery is amazing, and having a clean and simple design enhances his work that much further.

This combined approach of local SEO and a cleaner design to his website with a simple yet scalable information architecture has already delivered traffic, rank and conversion for Mr. Garlick’s architectural and interior design firm. We followed the same principal with Derk that we utilize for many other clients: we started with a modest budget and delivered excellent results before diving into a more substantial budget.

The next step with this architect’s website will be to expand his local footprint into other regions and make his phone ring off the hook.
